Everyone pays the kids price at Disney World Resorts
June 25, 2009

We all probably remember the first time we visited Disney World. There is something pretty amazing when you first walk into the park and see it spread out in front of you and realize you get to spend THE ENTIRE DAY playing. Then you get to recreate that feeling again when you take your kids for the first time and see their eyes light up.

So if you’ve never been before, are looking to educate the next generation on Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, or can’t get enough of the place and just want to go back, Funjet Vacations has put together a deal that would cheer up even Black Pete!

If you book before July 26th, you can take advantage of their “Adults Play like a Kid, Pay like a Kid!” offer.

For a limited time FunJet is offering a special low kids price on your 5-day or longer Magic Your Way Ticket when you book a stay of five nights or longer at a Walt Disney World® Resort Hotel. Even if you don’t have any kids, everyone gets the special kids price. Plus they are throwing in a free Disney Dining plan with your vacation which includes over 100 restaurants in the park and one table service meal, one counter service meal and one snack per person per day.

Great vacation options in Washington D.C.
June 24, 2009

The US capital is a pretty cool tourist destination any time of year but Washington D.C. really becomes something special in the summer. The weather is warm and while checking out all the amazing things to see and do, you can walk among all the parks and green spaces that dot the core of Washington D.C.

But of course, these days you can also get a deal on your hotel stay. Specifically you can save a cool $50 if you click through and use promo code DC50.

Maybe we’ll even drop in on the first family and see what is shaking at the White House.

Vacation in Barbados and get showered in free stuff

So far the weather has been pretty crummy in the Northeast US this summer. Rainy and cold is no way to recover from a long, cold winter.

So imagine the smiles on our face when Expedia sent us this great deal. Book a vacation in Barbados and get up to $600 in airfare credits, free nights, free breakfast and more.

Book by July 15, 2009 and travel between September 1st and December 18th, 2009 and share in the smiles. Happy travels!

20 things to do and deals too!
June 23, 2009

Priceline is really going all out and trying to save you money on your next vacation. They’ve got a worldwide summer vacation sale on right now that is not to be missed. As an example, if you stay 4 to 6 nights, you can get $25 to $75 off. If you stay 7 or more nights, you’ll get a sweet $50 to $125 off.

Plus when they say worldwide they really mean it. We took a gander at all the places where you can save money and the list is long and varied. Some ideas that came to mind when we were rummaging through all the deals:

You might want to visit the sea lions in San Diego or do a little surfing in Costa Rica.

Perhaps a trip to Amsterdam to get funky in the red light district or go to just about the opposite situation and visit Buffalo to catch a Bills game.

We hear Chicago is nice in the summer or perhaps a visit one Great Lake over in Toronto.

Mexico is a great deal these days, so it might be worth a jaunt to Puerto Vallarta or if the beach isn’t your thing but you still want to find some sun, roll the dice in Las Vegas.

Of course there is always the Gator’s backyard in Boston. We’d recommend taking a Duck tour and catching a Red Sox game.

We have friends in Atlanta who highly recommend a visit and of course we’re always game for a quick trip to New York City.

If you owe the family some down time, check out the fun in Orlando or maybe leave them at home and drive down to Key West.

The beaches in Los Angeles are always worth a visit and you can sip your drink and watch the beautiful people wander by. There are probably some beautiful people in Cozumel or Cancun as well. Worth taking a look anyway.

Maybe play a bit of golf in Naples or catch some reggae in Jamaica. You know you want to mon.

Of course you could always visit the queen in London or fly the exact opposite direction and commune with the volcano in Hawaii.

See…lots of things to do. All it takes is some imagination and a few travel deals.

Cheap flights to Scandinavia
June 23, 2009

Thinking about a vacation to Scandinavia? You weren’t? Come on….it is cold there a lot of the time so summer is definitely the time to visit.

Scandinavian Airlines (the big blue SAS symbol you saw on a bunch of planes the last time you connected through Europe) is going to hook you up with a sale. Round-trip airfares start at $489 which is just about the cost of the Delta Shuttle between New York and Boston.

Seems like a pretty nice deal to us here at the Gator. Book before June 24th (damn that is tomorrow – get on it man!)

In case you said “Scandinavia…where is that?” here are some of the countries you should add to your personal bucket list:

Denmark

Finland

Sweden

Norway

You know…land of the Vikings and all that. Ahh…now you get it. Happy travels!

Great hotel deals in Asia
June 23, 2009

Lately we’ve been talking a lot about staying local or heading down south for a vacation as that is where the deals seem to be. Then comes along Accor Hotels with some great hotel deals in Asia for us to check out. Now, we get all excited when we find a four star hotel in New York City for $150 a night or snag ourselves some beachfront accommodation for $120 a night in Mexico.

But come on. Bangkok for US$35 a night! Hong Kong from US$45?!? Seems like we’ll need to be planning a jaunt over the Pacific. Maybe some diving in the Philippines or sailing in Indonesia is in order (as we would never head to Bangkok for the...er...attractions). So many places…so little time.

Some more deals (all in US dollars) to satisfy your travel addiction with:

* Australia from $63

* China from $30

* Hong Kong from $45

* India from $51

* Indonesia from $40

* Malaysia from $44

* New Zealand from $63

* Philippines from $94

* Singapore from $61

* Thailand from $25

* Vietnam from $130

Deals on Airfare on Korean Airlines
June 23, 2009

In keeping with our brand new, never seen before, once time only (well maybe not) Asia deal theme, here is a great airfare sale by Korean Air. Flights to Thailand, China, Japan and a bunch of other places we’ve never been to for minor cash.

So snag a flight and snag one of those less than US$75 hotels and you’ll have yourself a vacation.

The fine print:

* Tickets must be purchased by June 30, 2009.

* Travel is valid July 20 through August 16, 2009.

* Lowest fares (except for Tokyo) are valid for travel on Thursday.

* A 24-hour advance purchase is required.

Find a cheap hotel in New York City
June 23, 2009

The Gator spends a lot of time in New York City. A LOT of time. So we're pretty good at nailing down hotel deals anywhere from 13th St. up to 52nd St.

But Hotels.com has taken all the fun out our weekly hunt for the best hotel deals. Just point and click, so to speak.

See you in the Big Apple!

Lake Tahoe is easy on the wallet
June 23, 2009

If you’re drawing up a list of Great American Playgrounds, it wouldn’t take too much head-scratching before you made it to Tahoe. Endlessly lauded – and visited – for over a century, this place is as much a testament to the Great Outdoors as to the remarkable ability of entrepreneurs to sell it.

And now you can check it out and reduce the effect on your wallet. Hotels from $45. Now that is a deal....anyone for a swim?

Deals on family vacations
June 22, 2009

For those of us who take our families on vacation with us, often the hassle of organizing everyone to get ready to go, hauling the kids and all their stuff on the plane and then navigating to the hotel can result in you needing a vacation to recover from your vacation.

So it is nice when at least it is cheap. Hyatt and Southwest Airlines have gotten together for a great offer that will take a bit of the sting away from a family vacation. Book flights and at least two nights at a Hyatt and they will pile on the discounts and free stuff.

• Daily complimentary breakfast for all registered guests

• 15% discount on Hyatt Pure spa services

• 15% discount on dining

• Free half-day kids' program at Camp Hyatt

• Locally inspired in-room kids' snack amenity

Free stuff when you visit London
June 17, 2009

London is a pretty amazing city any time of year but it is especially great to visit in the summer. There is nearly an endless number of things to do.

So lucky for all of us, if you stay two nights anytime between now and April 30, 2010 and book with Superbreak, they'll hook you up with free theatre or exhibition tickets, sightseeing tours or dinner.

Save big time with hotels in New York City
June 17, 2009

A few of us here at the Gator travel often to the Big Apple (and some of us live there...very jealous). New York City isn't for everyone but you have to admit it has a certain attraction if you are into food, great shows, nightlife, museums and pretty much any type of decadence or culture you might desire. We definitely love New York City but don't always love New York City prices.

So imagine our delight when across our desk comes a deal for hotels starting at $97 an night! Now that gets us thinking about a weekend getaway to the city.

Amazing hotel deals in Europe
June 17, 2009

We've been seeing a lot of deals to Mexico lately, but after you've worked on your tan for awhile even a beautiful beach gets a little old (although it might take a REALLY long time!).

So along comes Superbeak with a great deal on hotels in Europe. As an example, stay 3 nights and pay for 2. Or maybe stay 4 and pay for 3. And so on - you get the idea.

Time to find a cheap flight and hop across the pond for some real culture. The two thousand year old kind. Ol' Europe here we come!

Hotel deals in Philadelphia
June 16, 2009

We can think of a whole long list of reasons to visit Philadelphia. The Liberty Bell, The Rodin Museum, and the Edgar Allen Poe Historical Site are just three of our favorite things to see.

The best part, until July 6th you can save up to 30% on hotel rates. Now that is a deal we can't turn down. Time for a visit we think. Maybe we can even take in the fireworks!

Cheap vacations to the beach
June 15, 2009

Even though summer is threatening to arrive here on the east coast of the United States, the team here at the Gator is still dreaming of beaches. OK, we are always dreaming of beaches...

Lucky for us Orbitz is helping keep the dream alive with great deals to places like Aruba, Nassau, California, and Florida.

Check out the great deals from Orbitz on hotels at the beach. Up to 40% off!

Great hotel deals in New Orleans
June 15, 2009

New Orleans isn't completely back from the hurricane but it is starting to recover, at least from a tourist perspective. A vacation to New Orleans can still be a trip that is a bit like a wild amusement park ride - lots of fun but slightly dangerous if you don't know your limits. Some of us here are the Gator have minor memory lapses from our last trip.

There are also a ton of great sightseeing opportunities in New Orleans including some that don't involved drinking until you cannot walk anymore. For example, the New Orleans Museum of Art or the Royal Cameo Glass Gallery.

Of course, New Orleans is working hard to entice back the tourists which means there are some great deals. Check out Hot Wire for some of the lowest hotel rates available anywhere for your next trip to New Orleans. You know you want to...indulge a bit.

Deals on Iberostar All Inclusives
June 12, 2009

Most of the time we here at TravelGator like to create our own vacation from scratch. There is something cool about figuring out all the things you want to do when traveling and planning it out (after all, we are a travel planning site!).

But occasionally it is also nice to kick back and let an all-inclusive take care of everything. Luckily for those who are in the "just take my credit card and leave me be" camp, Funjet Vacations has got some deals for you to check out.

Specifically they will hook you up with 50% off and an extra two nights free for when you come back next year when you book at Iberostar Hotels & Resorts. Plus you can save even more when you combine this offer with special promotions like kids stay free, honeymoon inclusions and free golf at select hotels!

Unfortunately this deal ends June 25th so get on the phone, IM, SMS, Twitter, Skype, Facebook or other contact medium of choice (whew there are a lot of options these days - remember when you could just pick up the phone?) with whoever you travel with and make it happen. After all, you deserve it.

Funjet Vacations has got some deals for you to check out

Bonus miles for flying the Delta Shuttle
June 12, 2009

A few of us here at the Gator are a pretty normal sight on the Delta shuttle from Boston to New York so imagine our surprise when we stumbled upon this offer from Delta for bonus miles for flying the Delta shuttle between Washington, Boston and New York City.

If you register on Delta's site, you can earn 2,500 bonus miles when you fly the Delta Shuttle between New York’s LaGuardia (LGA) and Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) or Reagan National Airport (DCA) now through July 26, 2009. There’s no limit on the trips you can take or the miles you can earn. Which sounds pretty sweet to us.

Now we're wondering if they will make it retroactive...missed a few flights this month!

London in the summer
June 11, 2009

Now hear is a deal with can wrap our heads around. London is one of our favorite cities and late spring and early summer are definitely the best time of the year to visit. The weather is warm and you can walk the whole city without worrying about bringing an umbrella everywhere you go.

Virgin Atlantic is willing to hook you up with a round-trip flight from Chicago for only $482. But you better book fast - it is a 24 hour sale that ends today.

While in London, of course you must hit Buckingham Palace and the British Museum. Of course there are some other, less regal attractions like the London Dungeon that are worth checking out.

Basically there is a ton to do in London!

Escape the heat in Texas
June 7, 2009

Now we love Texas. The wide open sky, great food and super friendly people. Despite some less than positive memories of the Dallas airport the state just continues to draw us back.

That being said, the heat in Texas in the summer can be rather oppressive. So if you call Texas you home, you might want to take FunJet Vacations up on their offer to ESCAPE this summer and save money while doing it.

Great deals from Texas to Cancun, Cozumel and Jamaica this summer.

So..escape the heat, spend some time at the beach. What could be better than that?

Free tickets to Cirque du Soleil
June 7, 2009

We all know that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so given the great deals that are to be had in the city of sin, now is just about a perfect time to make a memory that you will promptly attempt to forget (or never remember in the first place).

Southwest Vacations has put together a fun filled trip to Vegas and has even included up to two free tickets to Cirque du Soleil® or Disney's® The Lion King! Plus the best part is the combination flight and hotel is a deal to start with.

* Stay 3 nights and save $60 per reservation

* Stay 5 or more nights and save $100 per reservation

Make sure to book before June 22nd!

Jetting to Hawaii for big savings with FunJet
June 7, 2009

Hawaii is a place you can never travel to enough. The beaches, the mountains, the amazing food...it never gets old. Or even when it does there is always somewhere else to go explore that will make it all new again.

Unfortunately Hawaii can also be expensive so most of us don't get there as often as we'd like. But now FunJet Vacations can hook you up for up to 50% off.

Now there is a deal we can get behind. Aloha!

Italy on a budget
June 5, 2009

Italy is one the Gator's favorite places to travel. Rome is wonderful, Venice is amazing but Florence..anyone who doesn't immediately fall in love with Florence should get their travel gene checked. The city has everything - amazing history, friendly people, great restaurants.

Now that our friends over at Travelocity have made flying to Italy especially affordable we have no excuses at all not to pay this incredible country a visit.We'll see you soon!

Deals to Mexico
June 4, 2009

Since the outbreak of swine flu, travel to Mexico has fallen off significantly and the hotels and tourist venues there are desperate to get visits to come back. So that translates into some great deals out there for a beach getaway to start your tan off right for the summer. For example, Hotels.com is looking to hook you up on a vacation to Mexico. Some options:

Head for the beaches in Cancun and save up to 25%

Go diving in Puerto Vallarta and save up to 33%

Or check out the bars in Los Cabos and save up to 32%
